COURSE DESCRIPTION
Bookkeeping is a subject that is commonly taught in secondary schools as part of business studies or accounting courses. It focuses on teaching students the fundamentals of financial record-keeping and basic accounting principles.
In bookkeeping, students learn how to maintain accurate records of financial transactions for a business or organization. They are introduced to concepts such as assets, liabilities, equity, income, and expenses. Students learn how to use different financial documents, such as balance sheets and income statements, to track and analyze the financial health of a company.
Bookkeeping also covers topics like the double-entry bookkeeping system, where every financial transaction is recorded twice to ensure accuracy and maintain the balance of accounts. Students learn how to record financial transactions in journals and ledgers, classify and categorize expenses, calculate profits or losses, and prepare financial reports.
